WILLIAM MOSS
William Moss and Margaret Moss (Residents 1916-1921)
William Moss was born in 1852 in Lincoln. He went to St. John's College, Cambridge in 1871. In 1875 he was appointed Assistant Master at Charterhouse and became House Master of Lockites (one of the Charterhouse boarding houses) in 1890. He retained this position until 1914 when he retired.

William married Eliza Isabella Smith, who had been born at sea on the Calpe off Gibraltar, in 1876 in Torquay. William and Eliza had six children. Eliza died in 1898 aged 43.

William re-married in 1913 to Margaret Sophia Ould. Margaret was the widow of Edward Augustas Lyle Ould, who died in 1909 (nee Bryans).
​
After retirement, William and Margaret moved to Weeke Gore. William died shortly after, on 16 October, 1916. Margaret lived at Weeke Gore until 1921. She died in 1948 in Minehead.
