WEEKE GORE/CRESTWEEKE (NO. 69)

On the building control plans, the owner is listed as Major Alexander of Bolton Lodge, Christchurch Road, Winchester. The plans were approved April 1911. The plans included a drawing room, study, dining room, hall, pantry/kitchen, servants hall, scullery, main bedroom and dressing room plus seven further bedrooms and a bathroom. Also a wine cellar and a Motor House. (Building Control Plans HRO reference W/C11/2/2928).

Originally known as Weeke Gore, the name was changed in 1921 to Crestweeke.

​

Weeke Gore, along with Rastgarth, unlike the other houses on Chilbolton Ave, are outside the boundary of Winchester City. They are in Weeke Without parish, part of WRDC.

A 'gore' – is a triangular strip of land.
