James Alexander McCheyne and Janet Paterson (Residents 1951 to 1976)

James ("Jim") Paterson was born in 1920 in Hertfordshire. He qualified in medicine at Edinburgh in 1944.

After qualifying, he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and spent a year in Ranchi, India.

He married Janet Beattie in 1946 in Kirkmahoe, Dumfriesshire.

In 1948 he joined the St. Clements practice in Winchester, where he was a partner until retirement in 1985. He was  a founder member of the College of General Practitioners.

Janet died in Winchester in 2004. James died in Winchester in 2009.
