West Dene

Photo D. Neilson

The  plans for West Dene were submitted in December 1931 by Richard Westlake  of Westlake and Mort,, an architect living at Fairways, Chilbolton  Avenue. Richard Westlake is shown as the owner on the plans, although it  is not clear whether he ever lived there before the Layton-Bennetts.  (HRO reference W/C11/2/2785)

The  plans show a loggia, den, dining room, sitting room, hall, porch,  kitchen, and a covered way leading to the garage. Upstairs there were  five bathrooms and two bathrooms.
