MR. ERNEST R HART

Ernest Ravensworth and Gladys Auriel Hart (Residents 1931-1935)

Ernest Ravensworth Hart was born in Paris in 1889.

He studied medicine at Guy's Hospital and obtained the M.R.C.S. and L.R.C.P. diplomas in 1911. He was house surgeon at the Evelina Children's Hospital and then he returned to Guy's Ht:øpital as ophthalmic house surgeon. In 1915 he took a commission in the R.A.M,C. and after being ophthalmic surgeon to the Northern Command went out to Salonika.

After the war, he held appointments at Hertfordshire County Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital, before joining the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in 1930 as an ophthalmic surgeon.

Ernest married Gladys Auriel Symonds in 1913 and they had a daughter, Anwyl Auriel in 1919.

The family moved into Chilbolton Cottage in 1931.

Ernest died in 1932 at the age of 44. His widow and daughter continued to lived at Chilbolton Cottage until 1935.
