HISTORY
Chilbolton Avenue is on the western edge of the city of Winchester, running between Stockbridge Road to the north-west and Romsey Road to the south-west. The first houses were built in 1908.

Turnpike Roads (1750's to 1870's)

Tithe Map of Weeke 1840

Church-owned Land
The land owned in Weeke by the 'Dean and Chapter of Winchester' upon which Chilbolton Avenue was built, was transferred to the 'Ecclesiastical Commissioners'. For more information, go to Church-owned Land.
Teg Down Rifle Range
From the 1850's to the 1890's Teg Down, land that now borders Chilbolton Avenue, was occupied by the military and used primarily as a rifle range. For more information, go to Teg Down Rifle Range.
Royal Winchester Golf Club
The Royal Winchester Golf Club moved from Morn Hill to Teg Down in 1901. The pavilion was built at the intersection of Chilbolton Avenue and the footpath opposite Links Road. For more information, go to Royal Winchester Golf Club.
