MRS MARGARET S ADAMSON

Margaret Stancomb Adamson (Resident 1931-1954)

Margaret S Adamson (nee Mann) was the sister of Janet Cleaver (nee Mann), who also lived at Teg Down House.

 

Margaret Stancomb Mann was born 1889 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. 

 

She married William Campbell Adamson in 1913. Their son William John Campbell Adamson was born in March 1914.

In July 1914, William Campbell Adamson obtained his Royal Aero Club Aviators Certificate and joined the Royal Flying Corps. In September 1915, after 11 months active service and serving as a captain, William was killed in action against German aircraft. He is buried at Harlebeke New British Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

The Adamson family estate, Carestone Castle in Angus, Scotland was inherited by William John Campbell Adamson from his grandfather William Shaw Adamson, in 1936.

Margaret Adamson moved to Teg Down House in 1931. Margaret's mother, Mrs W J Mann moved to Teg Down House in 1936, after the death of her husband, and stayed there until her death in in 1939.

​

From 1932 until at least 1942, Colonel Frederick H Cleaver and his wife Janet N Cleaver were living with Margaret Adamson at Teg Down House.

​

Margaret Adamson left Teg Down House in 1954. She died in Brechin, Scotland in 1987.
