1926 - 1939

After a gap of 14 years with no building, 13 houses were built between 1926 and 1939. After 1939, there was another gap before building recommenced in 1950.

The first house to be built in the second phase of development was Monks Hatch, which was built in 1926 for the Misses Cecil F and Margaret F Urmson. Cecil died in 1942 and Margaret continued living there until 1950.

In the early 1930's, three houses were built just south of Monks Hatch. Bella Vista was built for Alfred Leech who lived there until 1955. Down Cottage was first occupied by Charles Fosdick, 1932-1936. Gerald Barnes moved in briefly and then Fabian S Woodley lived there from 1938-1953. Chilbolton Cottage was built for Mr. Ernest R Hart. He died soon after moving in and his widow, Auriel, lived there until 1935. W G Quinton (1935-1936) and Miss Lucy Wills (1936-1937) lived in the house briefly and then Miss Diana Mabel Johnson lived there from 1937 to 1949.

Six houses were then built on the western side of Chilbolton Avenue, north of Monks Hatch. Teg Down House was built in 1930, and occupied by Mrs. Margaret S Adamson until 1954, along with her brother-in-law and sister, Colonel Frederick H and Janet Cleaver for most of that period. Rastgarth was built for Miss Geraldine M Seymour in 1930. In 1933, Francis L Tabor and his wife moved into the house. Francis died and his widow, Kathleen, continued to live there until 1960. West Dene was built by Richard Westlake and occupied by Lt-Commander Stuart John Layton Bennett from 1933 to 1936. It was then occupied by Sir Denys de Saumarez Bray, from 1936 to 1952. Moncks Dene was occupied by Major Arthur Lewis Scaife, from 1932 to 1946. Whin Brae was occupied by William Coates, from 1933 to1956. Fairways was first occupied by Richard Westlake in 1932and then his widow Gertrude until 1935. Dr H H Stiff lived there from 1935 until 1944, and his widow continued living there until 1955.

Three houses were built on the eastern side of the road. Teg Field House was built for Admiral Sir Morgan Singer (1933-1938). It was then occupied by Major Norman R Harvey, (1939-1959). Chapter House was occupied by Ernest Wynn Williams (1936-1953). The last house to be built in this period was at the far end of the road, St Faith's Manor Cottage occupied by Cyril Beecroft (1939-1995).

There were of course changes in the residents of the first six houses built. Mrs Eliza Niven bought Piper's Field in 1927. Ashton was bought by Vice-Admiral Everard Hardman-Jones in 1927. Captain H B Norcott was a resident from 1932-1933. It was bought by Captain Horace G Mitchell in 1934, who lived there until 1955. Dr. Egerton H V Hensley moved into Kirtling House in 1930 and stayed there until 1958. At Lang House, Mrs Tindall, who had moved there in 1921, continued to live there until 1947. At Westfield, Mrs Isabella Holt continued to live there until 1940. Weeke Gore was renamed as Crestweeke around the time that Mrs Angelina Wingrove acquired the house in 1932.
